Welcome to the Water Street Inn

The Water Street Inn is a distinctive and romantic 41-room Historic Inn located on the St. Croix River in Downtown Stillwater, Minnesota. Our accommodations, restaurant, Irish pub and conference facilities graciously blend the ambiance of an era gone by with the comforts of modern amenities.

Sweet dreams were never more inviting at Stillwater’s only waterfront hotel. Settle into your Victorian Suite, designed with special attention to details and decor and featuring queen sized beds, double whirlpool baths and gas fireplaces. Many guestrooms at our Stillwater bed and breakfast also have breathtaking river views and balconies.

Relax in our elegant lobby complete with period furnishings and the original tin ceiling. Enjoy a beverage on the patio facing the St. Croix River or stop in Charlie’s Irish Pub, located where Charlie Lustig had his saloon when the building opened in 1890. The pub features live Irish music every Friday and Saturday night. Savor your favorite micro-brew while listening to great entertainment.

For breakfast, lunch and dinner, Charlie’s Restaurant boasts exquisite American cuisine and a selection of fine international wines. Our Sunday Brunch is popular with visitors and locals alike.

The Ballroom at the Inn is an ideal setting for business meetings, retreats, private parties, catered events and weddings. Outside there is additional space on the outdoor veranda as well as at the Lowell park which sits between the Inn and the River.

Famed as the Birthplace of Minnesota, the celebrated community of Stillwater was founded in 1843. The city is just a twenty-minute drive from Minneapolis/St. Paul. The Water Street Inn is located in the heart of a nationally registered historical district of Stillwater. Uniquely situated between the St. Croix River and Main Street, our Stillwater hotel is just steps away from hundreds of shopping and entertainment opportunities.

Our Favorite Stillwater Hotel & Restaurant

What an absolutely perfect romantic getaway!!! Stillwater as a city has worked very hard to celebrate and maintain its historic atmosphere, and the Water Street Inn fits right into this beautiful tradition.

Our room, 220, was perfect.  A four-poster bed in the smaller portion of the room with a view into the huge living portion of the suite.  We had a view of part of the city and a fantastic view of the river and the Lift Bridge.  The room was outfitted with Victorian-style furniture, a whirlpool tub, a fireplace, and a tv.  The bathroom was very nice-sized and was modern.

After dinner, we walked through Charlie’s, the Irish pub attached to the Inn.  A true Irish band was playing and and everyone was laughing, dancing, shouting, and smiling—-true Irish people!

Beth_Patterson_B

December 18 & 19 – Grammy Nominated – Beth Patterson

Beth was born in a swamp. Okay, more accurately, she was born in a hospital near a swamp, but that’s close enough to romanticize the origin of this Lafayette, Louisiana native. Described by viewers as “a cross between a cobra and a puppy,” multi-instrumentalist Beth Patterson is foremost a player of the eight- and ten-stringed Irish bouzoukis (adaptations of a traditional Greek instrument). Known for her razor wit and musical versatility, her performances are chock-full of drive, savage energy, and passion, laced with humor and rapport with her listeners, dishing out an eclectic repertoire of original and traditional songs.

Beth studied ethnomusicology at University College Cork, where she explored the music of Ireland, West Africa, India, Indonesia, and the Caribbean, and began to experiment with fusions of these world gems with her musical old flames. This finally rendered her with the mind of a prog rocker, the heart of a world music-lover…and let’s just skip the part about her soul. She has released four CDs and has received widespread airplay in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, and Japan.

Welcome to Cafe Nola

A short, relaxing ferry ride from downtown Seattle exists Cafe Nola—a European style cafe comprising innovative, eclectic cuisine in a bistro setting. Chef/owner Kevin Warren creates intelligent, artfully executed plates using seasonal ingredients at their most flavorful.

By day, this charming cafe bustles with energy and lively conversation. As the lights dim, candlelight deepens the restaurant’s hues of butter yellow and cayenne red to provide an ambience that is stylishly warm and sophisticated.

A separate cozy dining room is available for private parties of up to 20 people.

Classic cocktails, specialty drinks, an extensive wine list and Northwest microbrews are all available at the full bar. Cafe Nola’s seasonal patio offers a glimpse of island life while dining “au plein air.”

If you go to Bainbridge Island, Try this Restaurant”

We went there for lunch during a day trip to Bainbridge Island. The food choices were very interesting and everything we had was very good. The staff is friendly and service was fast. I’d suggest you make reservations just to be sure you can get in. The weather was perfect so we sat outside. All in all, a good experience.
