June 9th, 2008 by chuck

Doug Hoverson, author of Land of Amber Waves, will chronicle Minnesota’s brew traditions. From the first illegal brewery at Fort Snelling , to the larger companies with regional and national prominence, to the vibrant culture of today led by the new wave of breweries such as Summit, Lake Superior Brewing Company, and Surly.

Home brewing groups from the area will also be setting up to show how to make beer at home. There will be people on hand to show how to start making home brew and where the ingredients can be purchased.

The event will start with Hoverson’s presentation at 4pm, the beer tasting will follow at approximately 5pm. The cost for the beer tasting is $10. For more information contact WCHS at 651-439-5956 or Hay Lake School Museum at 651-433-4014.
